Directing Duties . . .

Ok so my role is to direct you all. So here are some ideas i've been thinking of, aswell as what I, and each other expect of you individually. Please add to this if you feel more is needed or something changed.

Sound (Emile)
Sound requirements may include the following:

- Door knock
- Monty flicks on the stereo to enlighten the mood, so a techno unsigned track would be handy.
- Possibly a button switch sound.
- Fridge door opening/closing
- Cupboard doors opening and closing.
- Front door opening and shutting

For the time being...
- Get familiar with an audio editing program, and possibly recording. A simple free program is Audacity. Other more professional and technical ones include Cubase 4, Reason and Ableton Live. You may have used Adobe Soundbooth for you ident sounds last year, this is pretty simple if you wanted to use this also. You can find free loops/sound effects online which you can then play around with.

Editing (Richard)
Not too many special effects will be used in the sequence, and ideas need to be developed further to give you specific tasks and can't just be 'on the top of my head' like above.

So for the time being, get familiar with Adobe Premiere Pro + hopefully After Effects. I want you to be able to import, edit and export fully as well as know a few advanced features of the programs soon. For after effects tutorials, see http://www.videocopilot.net/. Very good tut's for AE there. If you need footage to play around with, you will be able to find some stock footage somewhere that you can download (no excuses, I found loads before, if not use a youtube ripper.) Get good knowledge of the timeline aswell as transitions and effects for video and sound. No need to go into green screen detail or anything. Several books in library to help.

Producer (Cody)
For these early days, we need you to:

- Sort out our time schedule, day of filming if possible and other dates, team meetings etc. 2 Weeks planning, 1 week film, 1 week editing etc etc. Have a list of dates for us soon. Talk to us individually if you need to sort out when we're all free.
- Find actors, this is probably best done after doing the top, as we can then say 'we need actors for dates so and so.

Camera & Lighting (Houston & Philip)

Again, it's difficult to directly tell you what to do. Just take out a camera each, have a play around with them, work out EVERYTHING about the Panasonics, zoom, macro, white balance and other photographic settings, aswell as obtaining smooth pans/tracks with a Tripod. If you can, try and learn together. By experimenting, forward any ideas you may have to me.

Directing (Ollie)
Thou shalt be doing:

- Thinking of ideas, shots, lighting.
- Editing the script to our preference.
- Drawing up a storyboard, or taking test images to show to you on here or at meetings what features we may include.

- Posting things like this.

Additional Stuff

- Take a picture of your kitchen and upload it here to see which location will look best.
- Maybe we should book the studio to play around with lighting and such as a group.

- Richard can you get Philip to look on this blog please as you have his number. Aswell as the user/pass. Find out if he's recovering and in for Monday.
- Get posting here guys, I want to see what everyones been up to!
__________________________________________________________________

Like I said, add to this if neccessary, in your colour (see first post.) I don't expect all this by Monday, don't worry. This just lays out what we all expect from each other, and there can't be any excuses like 'I wasn't told what to do' or anything. Sorry if it feels like I'm bossing you about! :]

If we can all do our bit in this project, we can really come out with something good.

  1. Great, I'll grab AE and Premiere. I've watched a load of Video Co-pilot videos, he's too good! I don't think we need explosions though :D
